70000tons of Metal held a guessing game all week, giving hints to the first 10 bands as they announced them. As a survivor of this epic BOAT, I can honestly say this lineup is off to a solid and exciting start. The previous boat seemed to lack the presence of folky, power metal cheese that brought the party so many times before. Not that it made the journey any less rad, but there is something to be said about fun music being the soundtrack to your week of binge drinking girlie drinks.
Right out of the gates, Dragonforce, Firewind, and Turisas promise to bring that very fun I was hoping for! Swedish Melodeath legends At The Gates are never a band to miss and performing beside Fleshgod Apocalypse (definitely stoked about them!), Iced Earth, Moonspell, and Children of Bodom, just makes this one hell of a hype-worthy start! Also joining are Delain, who I missed when they toured with Nightwish and Sabaton, and Lacuna Coil. Welcome aboard 70000tons of Metal 2016!
