My life was forever changed once I learned about businesses that actually SUPPORT touring musicians! From free food and laundry, to fun attractions to visit, here is a list of places to check out while you are touring through North America.

Illegal Pete’s – Denver, CO

Illegal Pete’s has partnered with Suburban Home Records to establish the aptly dubbed Starving Artists Program which is exactly what it sounds like: setting up weary bands on the road with a meal in exchange for spreading the word to their family and friends about Illegal Pete’s. Bands give Illegal Pete’s the head’s up, and they give them the hookup. Customers benefit, too; from impromptu acoustic sets to Eat and Greets, customers can get up close and personal with their favorite bands. All touring bands coming through Denver are eligible and merely need to reach out to Illegal Pete’s in advance to get their Starving Artist voucher. The restaurant will then set up each member with a free entrèe and drink. I have eaten here many times on the road and their food is delicious! Think Chipotle, but actually good and without the digestive pain! Just make sure you submit your request using the link below at least a week in advance to ensure you get your voucher.

louiegs

Louie G’s Pizza – Seattle, WA

Louie Galarza, founder of Louie G’s Pizza and All-Ages Venue, wants to make life on the road a bit easier for bands on tour. “I’m offering a place for bands to rest up, eat something and wash some clothes while on the road.” Touring bands from out of the area coming through town or bands leaving on tour can have a free large pizza, salad bar, and soda while doing their laundry on site. This delicious retreat is available Tuesday – Sunday 1:30pm to 2:00pm or 5:00pm to 9:00pm. All bands need to do is show proof of tour dates to redeem this offer and send an email to LouieGs@comcast.net.

rockhall

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame – Cleveland, OH

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is a museum located on the shore of Lake Erie in downtown Cleveland, Ohio, United States. It is dedicated to archiving the history of some of the best-known and most influential artists, producers, engineers and others who have, in some major way, influenced the music industry. That introduction was not needed at all since you probably already worship four people that have already been inducted. Just show your tour laminate to someone at the ticket booth or customer service, and they should let you in for free!

bons

Bon’s Off Broadway – Vancouver, BC

Ok, so the food isn’t FREE, but for $2.95 in silly Canadian dollars it’s close enough! I make a point to stop here every time I perform in Vancouver. You can pay for your entire meal with a couple of toonies! A plate of eggs, potatoes, meat, and toast will keep you going strong for the rest of the day. You can’t afford not to!

Bon’s Off Broadway is located at 2451 Nanaimo St, Vancouver, BC V5N 5E5, Canada.
