German Power Metal clergy, POWERWOLF, have released their sixth full length album and it will bless and possess the shit out of you! The themes haven’t changed a bit with Blessed And Possessed, and who could even want them to? Romanian folklore dictated through catchy melodies and lubed up with a healthy amount of cheesy lyrics provide the perfect recipe for feel good power metal! Every D20 wielding headbanger will succumb to the mention of vampire and werewolf legends! The band’s personality animates each track with a high energy onslaught that thrusts the songs into your head and nails a smile onto your face.
The album kicks off with one hell of an epic anthem. The title track “Blessed And Possessed” may lead you to believe that the band shot their load early, but have faith in POWERWOLF! It is IMPOSSIBLE to pick a “best” song on Blessed And Possessed. The relentless barrage of feel good power metal continues to keep your spirit high with tracks like “Army of the Night“, “Armata Strigoi“, “We Are The Wild“, “Higher Than Heaven“, and “All You Can Bleed“. I have a new favorite song every time I listen through the album and you will too. It’s just a matter of which one gets stuck in your head first!
Blessed And Possessed has not left my CD player since it was released. My only regret in life, is having to listen to other albums after this in order to keep Trollwhack from becoming a POWERWOLF Fan Page. Trust me, I’ve considered it! Get your paws on a copy of this album, and if you have a few extra bucks, pick up the edition that includes Metallum Nostrum. It has some of the coolest covers I’ve ever heard. Conquistadores by Running Wild pleases my piratical soul, and POWERWOLF‘s version of it is a buried treasure worth hunting down!
