WILDERUN is a Symphonic Folk Metal band based out of Boston, Massachusetts that smells like Opeth and Turisas took a whisky bath with Hans Zimmer. Their albums are armed with an array of textured folk instruments like hammered dulcimer and mandolin, that weave a entrancing blend of European and American folk music around masterfully crafted metal.
WILDERUN‘s first album, Olden Tales & Deathly Trails, showcases a love for folklore and music, much akin to Turisas. That love rapidly evolved into a more cinematic and progressive feeling with the latest release, Sleep At The Edge Of The Earth.
Given the immense popularity of folk metal in Europe, it’s great to see more glorious bands holding it down West of the Atlantic. Give these guys a listen. Buy their music. Bang your heads!
